Gee...wasn't it supposed to be a holiday today?? What was it? Wednesday?

I didn't realize that painting used so many abdominal muscles. You know that feeling that you get when you first overuse those muscles and they're sore? That slightly nauseous/car wrecked feeling?

Well, that's what I got. That 'no pain, no gain' crap is just that.

Neat websites visited (not necessarily journals):

I thought I bookmarked the site with 'Budgie ~ Zilla' (think parakeets the size of Godzilla rampaging through town) but I guess I didn't. I'll have to go back and do that...and post the URL, of course...hehehehe

THE AQUARIUM

Geez ~ I'm beat. I spent the evening working on getting the bathroom finished. How long has those paintings been 'in progress'? Nearly two years? Sheesh. I am proud to say that they are now finally getting near to being finished. I've got to finish the flora on one wall and the water critter's 'mane' and figure out what to put on the little bit of wall next to the sink. Yep ~ it's nearly done! WHOO HOOOO!

To update ~ my half bath downstairs is slowly becoming an 'aquarium'. I'm painting the drywall that forms the upper half of the wall. On the wall opposite of the door, is a 'normal' looking painting of three brightly colored fish (red/yellow/orange ~ it only took me the whole two years to get them to look right!) swimming along in a 'normal' looking tank with water plants 'growing' in the white sand, complete with 'roots' as well as some 'floating' near the ceiling. (This part of the wall is approximately 5 foot high by 6 foot wide) On the right, the wall makes a small 90 degree turn outwards for about 8 inches and another 90 degree turn again to the right. That part of the wall is about 2 feet wide and I haven't decided what needs to go there yet.) On the 8 inch space, a small treasure chest rests on the 'sand', blowing bubbles up to the ceiling. On the right hand side of the bath is the sink and medicine cabinet but on the left...

On the left side of the bath is the toilet ~ and on the wall above it is a mer-man (I wanted to make it as androgynous as possible but as I painted, he become more and more 'male'. So much for that.) as if he has placed his hands against the 'glass' of the aquarium wall to take a look of what's on the other side. The wall with the door is filled with the 'water critter' arching over the door. I wanted it to be a dragon but it looks more 'generic'. Again...so much for that. Who was I to think that I could control what the paintings wanted to be?

When it's all said and done, I want to put plexiglass over it to complete the look and paint the edgings black to resemble the hardware of the aquarium.

Yeah...it feels good to be painting.
