I'm sitting here, taking a break from a prelim graphite sketch. It's a woman - dancing? twirling? - and her long, flowing dress morphs into stars which in turn swirl around her. I have no idea what medium the finished portrait will be - she hasn't told me what she wants.

I've also worked on my orange painting for class - so far, I think it sucks royally. I think it is the fact that I mixed my own paint this time instead of buying the prepared medium...plus I don't really like Beethoven as well as Resphegi. Perhaps time away from it will change my perspective. It doesn't really matter, anyway, I'm out of paint.

I noticed a funny thing while I was working on the sketch. I discovered that my brain (which is different from mind - in my opinion) kept trying to find ways to weasel out of quieting down. Even at this moment, I am wondering why I am tying on this infernal machine instead of sketching. (There's a phrase - "tying" instead of typing)

I am supposed to meet someone tomorrow - and I will be exhausted if I continue on the sketch. I know this. I don't care. I wouldn't say that I've been inspired (I just typed 'expired' instead - perhaps that's truer than I know. In the last months, I have been 'expired' as an artist.) because there is really no such thing. Just either willful intent to work - or not. I've been pretty willful in the 'not' category, as of late. Granted, getting started is hard sometimes...but momentum builds.

I think I'll go get Kitt and try to get him fed before the other piranha in the Sea of Felinity discover what's going on. They know why he comes inside now. Then back to the sketch.

Ah...haven't done this in a while -

Flora notes: The mystery plant continues to grow - it's looking more like a woolly type of sage every day. It's the familiar silver/green with very long; fine, white hairs covering it. The pennyroyal is still considering world domination -or at least the front yard - only now it has the Patchouli as a contender. The Pennyroyal is flowering and its small purple flowers look very good mixed in with the dark leaves of the patchouli. The Melissa (Lemon Balm) is definitely the ruler of the backyard realm - it's been flowering for a few weeks now and is even larger than ever. I may end up relocating the elf lillies next spring so that they have a fighting chance against it. The catnip seedlings aren't seedlings anymore - they're about to bloom and seed themselves. I may give the side yard to them.

Anyway - I'm going back to the sketch and Art Bell. Good night, Sweetie.
