Anderson Cooper said something this morning on World News Now that sparked an idea in my head - he used this phrase to describe a fellow anchor, Alison (this is what happens at 4 am and I can't get to sleep)...
A title to play with:
'Big Hair, Little Woman'
Sounds like something on par with 'Bright Lights, Big City', doesn't it?? (Yeah - right)
Here's part of the character sheet I've come up for the lead character so far.
Ideas for the story so far:
-
Luella gets talked into getting 'bigger' hair by her friends in the Beauty Shop - "Hell, girl, you're in Texas - big hair is required here."
- Luella's hair gets huge - like something out of a John Waters movie. She is the envy of the town.
- A summer storm blows up and produces a tornado - Luella's hair acts as a sail as she is picked up by the twister. She loses track of the time as she is blown about by the twister. "Hell, for all I know Kevin Costner is popular again."
- The twister sets Luella down in Brownsville Texas - not far from the Mexican border. "It's a good thing it stopped, y'know, because I didn't have my passport on me."
- Luella becomes the talk of Texas - during her time in the twister, her hair 'caught' a small child that had also been picked up. She is credited with saving his life.
