I've just gotten back from a fantastic artist date ~ I went to the Tennessee State Fair. Saw all the sights (literally); got a henna tattoo, went to the petting zoo and took in the concert of a life time.

Here's a (VERY) rough copy of my henna tat. The 'arms' of the sun are actually wavy, but I couldn't quit get the effect at the moment with PSP:

I am in heaven at the moment.

It took me a while to get the hang of the layout of the fair ~ it had to be the most spread out thing in the world. I'm also firmly convinced that they took a survey of all the hills in the area and put the fairgrounds on the highest one. I got one heck of a workout, just from walking up and down that damn hill. You had to go up it to get to the exhibitor's hall; down it to get to the midway, back up to go the grandstand and down again to get to the parking lot. My legs feel as if they are about to fall off.

I spent quite a while in the petting zoo ~ which at the time I was there, should have been called the 'feeding zoo'. I bought a bag of carrots for a dollar to feed to the animals ~ there were some greedy ones there! Two nubian goats vied for the next handout by trying to outclimb each other on the fence and one of the suffolk sheep simply muzzled the other out of the way. Some of the animals didn't want to be there, though ~ the highland calf was especially sad looking. He shouldn't have been there, in my opinion.

Now then....the concert. I never thought that I would ever get to see this guy ~ and there he was! He was the Friday night free concert ~ and I was in the front row, not 10 feet from him! I got to see him up close and got hit with the water that he threw on us during the Nirvana bit...I'm in heaven...

He did all the great songs ~ including a polka. (Imagine Chumbawumba done to a polka...then add SmashMouth to it. You start to get the idea...) Yoda...Fat...Dare to Be Stupid...One More Minute With You...two hours of sheer bliss for me ~ and damn if he didn't look fine tonight. At one point, when he came out to do 'Yabba Dabba Do Now', I have to admit I was curious as to what he was wearing under the Fred Flintstone outfit...hehehehehe. I didn't quite get a chance to see if it is the same as a Scot and his kilt ~ he didn't come close enough to the edge of the stage.... ];->

I have to admit ~ from what I've seen, the public persona of Al is one that I like a lot. Good looking. Insane. Creative. Everything I look for. I'd even be happy with him not being around all the time ~ a perfect combination!

Yes, people ~ I am in love with Al Yankovic. "Weird" Al Yankovic. Send me to the looney bin now before I start sounding like a damn groupie. Granted, I'm not as bad as some people I talked to while I was there ~ they have every video, every cd ever produced by him. I just don't have that collecting bug at the moment ~ I didn't even go over to check out the t-shirts and such. (BTW ~ the t-shirts started at $20. I do know that much.)

Oh ~ this is rambling and not very coherent...oh well, I wanted to get as much down as I could before I started to forget.
