Yessiree ~ nothing spells Christmas like reruns of Xena ~ Warrior Princess hehehehe

Quote of the day:
"You know I love my family but that's no reason for me to acknowledge them in broad daylight."
~ 'Hyacinth Bucket' (pronounced 'bou*kay'), 'Keeping Up Appearances'

Well, my night with my dad and grandmother has come and gone without a hitch. My loot from the night includes the book, Sacred Myths of the Cherokee and Sacred Formulas of the Cherokee and a watch with the numbers in Cherokee. It is very cool.

Of course, I went in prepared for the worst and everyone was on their best behavior...

What's left to wrap:

  • My mom's 'damn Barbie'
  • The set of clothes that goes with aforementioned abomination.
  • A cookbook called "Best Recipes From the backs of Boxes, Cans and Jars" by Ceil Dyer
  • C.M.'s computer games ~ Civilization II and Civilization II, Test of Time
  • Chicken basted rawhide chew for Pepe, my aunt's Chihuahua
  • Fruit for various people

VOTING FOR A
PLUTONIAN DAY

Well, the big formerly christian day is nearly here. Norad is keeping an eye on Sanny Claus ~ that guy won't drop any missles on us while they're on duty!

My Christmas eve has been ~ and still is ~ a busy one. First, off to Bowling Green with C.M. to get a few last minute gifts, including some Molsen Ice; Killian's Red and Red Dog beer for one person, who hasn't been allowing herself to get her favorite beer because of a financial crunch, only to discover that there is no beer sales there on Sunday. So...down I ~ 65 we go to Goodlettesville to a Kroger to get what we need. Next, a stop in Rivergate at Fazoli's for a bite to eat, only to discover that they closed at 4 ~ 15 minutes before we got there. Off we go again, to check our next choice to eat, CiCi's, which looked as if they had been closed all day. Gallatin was next, with C.M. vowing the whole way that if his third choice was closed, he was just going home and throwing a container of frozen macaroni into the damn microwave. Luckily for us, Pizza Hut was open. C.M. was saved the mediocrity of macaroni, even if it was shaped like little soccer balls.

But wait! There's more...once we got everything out of the car, we loaded it again with the laundry and headed off to Hendersonville. Some two or so hours later, we come back but we're still not done...after my clothes are put up, C.M. wanted to put a heater in the pumphouse in an attempt to thaw out the water and I had to add some cedar shavings to the cats' bedding. Both experiences were not without their moments ~ 14 degree weather; hands caught under the heavy lid of the pumphouse...and I still haven't figured out how that cat managed to wallop my shin so hard while I was spreading the cedar.

So...with that said and done, here it is somewhere near midnight and I'm still not done. After covering two states; (including all the ones traveled through on the interstate) 5 counties and 5 cities I have gifts to wrap ~ or in Pepe's case, stick a bow on his rawhide chew. All this needs to be done so I can get some sleep so I can be over at my mom's house by 10 am...oh goddess, why couldn't we be on Pluto or something where the days are considerably longer? It wouldn't be that much of an adjustment...it's already damn cold here and has been for quite a while ~ how much worse can it be?

All in all ~ I can't really say it's been that bad, lack of time notwithstanding. The only things that seem to be really suffering are this journal and my morning pages ~ this is the first entry in 5 days and I probably won't do my MPs again until Tuesday...as much as I don't like it, I can't see any way around it. Like I said ~ I need a Plutonian day to get everything done!
