A little over a month ago, a developer in Miami discovered something rather unique in his excavations for the foundation of a new building. It was a circle, cut into stone with various animal totems forming holes in it. Turtle and shark remains were found, along with some human teeth.
Throughout the month, the circle was threatened with destruction, right up to a few days ago when the dozers pulled up to the perimeter fence that was set up around the find and the stonecutter hired to remove the circle pulled out of the project because of moral and ethical reasons. Tonight, it was announced that Dade county would claim the 2 1/2 acre property and compensate the developer.
All long, various people have been claiming that this circle could be the American equivilent to Stonehenge. Others have been saying it is a sacred site of the Tequesta Indians that used to live in the area but have now died out. What I really wonder could be true is this: tonight, along with the announcement that the site is now protected and will be a park of some kind, it was stated that the upright stones themselves may have been found.
Could it be?? Could this site actually be another circle like Stonehenge?? Granted, it's smaller - only 32 feet across - but still...could it also be true that it is much older than the initial studies have indicated?
One of the things I've found interesting about this circle is a carving that was found - it is a large carving of a human eye - it's obviously much eroded but you can still see (no pun intended) what it is. I don't know if that many tribes at all that used a symbol such as that...granted, I'm no expert but I've never run across that. I wonder if it could be druidic? Some claimed that it could be Mayan in origin...that is certainly so.
Just think about it - what could this circle been used for? It's just boggling to think about...and it's been saved - another miracle.
