The painting still goes. The walls and ceiling are being painted black, in order to complete the illusion of an aquarium. I've got a rough sketch on the inside of the door ~ an underwater walkway with jellyfish and a shark or two swimming over. The walkway empties into a hallway, in which you can make out the letters 'NA', the tail end of an arrow and a 'curlique' just past the corner. I'm thinking about redoing the floor too, using all those pottery fragments that I've been saving over the last year and reproducing it in the painting on the door.
The ceiling is taking a bit of work. For some odd reason, there is wood paneling there instead of 'traditional' ceiling materials. It's taken two coats to get it nearly black, maybe one more to get it just right.
Most people, in order to make a house a home, simply put in some new carpet and maybe some wallpaper. Me ~ I put up trompe l'oeil on all the walls. It's only taken me how long to start to make this place feel like a home?
I think this will be a short entry tonight ~ I'm beat. My wrist hurts. My back, legs and feet are tired. Still, it feels great to get some good work done. I'm a working artist again!
I've been thinking of doing an experiment. I haven't done it mainly because I'm somewhat afraid that it will be successful. What I've been thinking about is taking a recorder and the camera back to Stop #4 at Stones River in Murfreesboro (however you spell it ~ it's late and I'm tired. Sue me.) and seeing if my 'buddies' at the time are still there ~ meaning the ghosts. When I was there last, I walked the trail through there for a while and I was sure several times that there was someone walking behind me.
Oh hell ~ you know that I'll do it, don't you? I wonder what they'll have to say? Can you see me going through the woods saying, "Speak clearly into the recorder and pose for the camera!"
I thought about doing here in the house...but I am certainly not ready to burst the illusion that I have it to myself at the moment!
On to the next entry
