...and one journey into the strange and possibly deranged: the Lizard Queen ~ the official website of Patricia Kennealy - Morrison and her loving husband, Jim.

Yes, you read that correctly. That Jim Morrison. If something approaches being too bizarre for me, you know that it's got to be something.

Strange dream ~

I am at the house in Bethpage and it is a bright, sunny day. There is a gathering of some witchy type, even my mother is going to attend (that alone tells you that it's a dream!) We argue over a pendant ~ she wants me to wear an ornate one with all kind of celtic knotwork on it and I just want to wear my simple, double ringed pentacle. Finally, I just hand the ornate one back to her and that is that.

I attend the gathering for a few minutes but decide to go back to the house. A woman dressed completely in black comes follows me. I walk into the kitchen and see all kinds of expensive rings (diamonds; amethyst, etc.) in open display boxes just sitting on the table for anyone to take. When I comment on it, the woman says, "Well, I don't think anyone here would take them." She continues to talk a bit and I feel vaguely uncomfortable around her. Soon, more women come in from the gathering and I still feel uncomfortable. Just before the conversation can get going well, I hear a strange electronic 'beeping' noise from outside.

I run out onto the front porch and turn to the left. Now, there is a very heavy fog ~ I can't see anything beyond the porch until I look up. There I see some very bright lights and the outline of a ship. Just as I realize what it is, it takes off ~ flying right by the house and followed by several very bright lights. I stay out, hoping that they'll come back but I am joined by the people from the gathering. I feign a nap.

JUST SAY NO

Well that great cultural event (:::ahem:::) known as the Grammys is over. It ended on time ~ isn't that like a first or something? Personally, I was ready for it to be over once U2 performed and won 2 awards.

I have to agree with Jon Stewart ~ did anyone know The Edge could talk??

There has been a somewhat raging debate this week over on the Maidens list the fact that Eminem was performing with Elton John. Actually, I think it was more the fact that the guy was even allowed anywhere near a recording studio at all...you know, the same old 'censorship and art' argument.

Being an artist (and dare I say it again? anarchist), I don't agree with censorship at all. It flies all over me when someone tells me that I can't listen to/read/look at/think something because they don't agree with it. It is the ultimate form of...I started to say disrespect, and perhaps it is. It is highly disrespectful to tell a person that they obviously aren't as evolved as you are and therefore you are going to do their thinking and choosing for them.

When a person creates, the last thing that person should worry about is how it is going to be received by the general populace. That line of thinking about how anyone is going to react to the finished product leads to sterile, lifeless, cookie cutter xeroxes of art ~ that is if the person can produce anything at all. That creativity isn't independent of a person either. It is distilled through all of one's life experiences and passions, leaving behind a unique 'snapshot' of the moment.

That's the main reason why I'm against censorship, whether it's Eminem or Mapplethorpe (there's a blast from the past!). Life can't be sterilized and homogenized and no matter what, no two people ever see the same thing in the exact same way. A person from the suburbs experiences life much differently than one from the country ~ does that mean that the person from the country needs to censored for talking about the pile of crap left behind by the bull or the fun of taking a literal roll in the hay?

I hear you. "What the hell does that have to do with Emenim?" you say. Well, consider the song he did tonight with Elton. It was about a guy who kept writing letters to a rapper who had made it big. This guy felt a great deal of familiarity for said rapper because of similar situation ~ both of their girlfriends were pregnant (a result of that roll in the hay, don'tchaknow). Granted, the fan was a bit 'off' (read 'obsessive'). His letters got increasingly violent when the rapper didn't write back, finally describing exactly what he was going to do because of it (his bullshit). When even this didn't elicit a response from the rapper, the fan carried out his threats...after which the rapper finally responds back and realizes who it was in the news that had driven a car off a bridge with his girlfriend in the trunk.

Now, I hear another thought coming ~ "Firewolf, I think you're full of bullshit. How can you condone that stuff?" Perhaps I am and I don't. Not at all. Just because I don't condone it doesn't mean that it doesn't happen because it does. Lots of unpleasant stuff happens everyday but I don't see the evening news getting censored. Like I said, life can't be sterilized or homogenized. Conforming to the rose colored glasses is just...anathema.

So here's my final word on the subject of censorship ~ Just Say No.
