Oh boy...I wonder what it is to be depressed and not know it? Perhaps I should check into that...

Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen, it's Beltaine yet again!

I found some British traditions (courtesy of The Enclyclopedia of White Magic) for Beltaine -

May morning was greeted all over Europe with a stomp dance with a ONE - two - three beat (hmmm...sounds familiar - like the Native American stomp dances). The rhythem woke up the Earth, ready for Summer. They still do the dance in Cornwall.

The scene between Arthur and Morgaine in Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley where they came together on Beltaine is based on fact. A boy and a girl were chosen at birth and trained until their 14th birthday to accept the fact that on Beltane Eve, the boy would go out and run with the deer. When the Stag sensed the boy's presence, it would try to fight him off - and the boy would have to try and defeat the Stag. Upon returning unharmed and victorious, the now Stag Lord mated with the Maiden who was also the May Queen. Their participation as Goddess and God in the Great Rite insured the fertility of the land for the coming summer.

I plan to spend Beltaine (at least partially) treating myself to tickets to a presentation by Monty Roberts and hopefully get my book autographed. (Goddess grant there's still tickets left!!) I've been waffling a bit on whether to go or not - I know that if I don't go, I'll kick myself but if I do...I may embarrass myself by just bawling at the sight of a horse. LOL I want to go.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I think this is going to be a short entry. I've spent a good deal of the day programming the SHA site - complete with tutorials - and I'm beat. Even more so since I didn't sleep well at all last night. Here's to a better night's sleep.
