Guess what I finally remembered to do? CHECK THE GUESTBOOK! lol I hope people have better luck getting into the thing than I did ~ I ended up having to go to the file manager and looking from there. Sheesh!

So...a very, very belated 'thank you' goes out to Nightmarch; Christine, Owlshade and Donna. I'm not really a bad host ~ just a very absent minded one. Your comments were very much welcomed and appreciated!

Hey ~ this is a pretty cool color...

I heard from my mom tonight...after seeing her on Tuesday; hearing from her on Wednesday and seeing her again on Thursday. I'm on overload and honestly need a break. I don't want to hear about clothes, shoes or Danielle Steele. I could care less about the price of grapes.

I could use a good conversation that goes deeper than the average contact lens.

Ah...it's getting to be that time of year again. Walking Horse Celebration time in Shelbyville. Here it's been over 16 years (I can't believe that Magic would be nearly 20 now.) and I still miss that horse. Gee ~ now if I could only find a person (or persons) I felt as strongly about.

The subject of Polyamory came up on the Maidens list...o.k., o.k, I brought it up...LOL. You know, I'm kind of curious about the idea but I think it is more of a utopian thing ~ especially after reading Heinlein's _Stranger in a Strange Land_. I've been reading a bit about it on Isaac Bonewits' website and links from there. I don't know if I could work out all the ingrained stuff enough to share...

Story Behind a Painting

I've been working out this idea for a drawing in color pencil for the last few days. I really wish I had a scanner so I could post some of this stuff.

Anyway, the idea is to have it set during the Civil War. (I may have already mentioned this during another entry...it probably would have been last year though...) I haven't decided which 'side' to have her on but the subject is a woman who lives disguised as a man. Quite a few woman did that during the War ~ they weren't allowed to join the armies so they disguised themselves. At the point where many men were running away, women were running to join the battles.

She has managed to get time enough away from her unit (did she slip away? get furlough? did Civil War soldiers even get furlough?) and find a place with a genuine bathtub ~ it's even filled with (somewhat) hot water. He uniform lies in a heap slightly behind the tub and her gun leans into a corner with her hat perched on the nearby chair. Her tattered boots lie where she took them off.

She's managed to soak a bit and wash her hair ~ it's pretty wild where it's partially air dried. She looks over the edge of the tub where a cat sits. As she leans over a bit to pet the cat and talk to it, the cat looks over to the right as a light appears. Is the door opening? Has she been found out? Is she AWOL? Or does the owner know her secret and is simply giving her advance warning of someone approaching the house?

Ah....who can say? I'm only the storyteller ~ not the story. I can't wait to work on it again...
