I'm going to blow off some frustration on this one - somewhere.

Today began pretty well - C.M. and I went to Bowling Green to do the inevitable Christmas (Yule!! I want Yule!!) shopping. We ended up doing more for ourselves than for the people on the list...lol.

We went into a relatively new bookstore called Phoenix Books - that is a cool shop! They have books in there that I didn't even know existed. I found all sorts of 'new age'; regional, native american, civil war...and on and on...I got a book about a Zuni berdache, in this case a man who lived as a woman. I haven't discovered if he did it because he was impelled to or if it was a spiritual directive to do so. Either way, it should be interesting. We also went to Barnes and Noble where I bought my parents' gifts and we eventually ended up at Media Play in Nashville where I cleaned up on art books that were marked 75% off. I do enjoy buying $20 books for $5...most were in the $3-$4 range.

Before we went to Media Play though, I went to the planning meeting at SHA. I got as frustrated as hell. I like the people there quite a bit (especially E., L. and J.) but sometimes, I just want to...as Forrest said in the Mad TV skit 'get medival on their buttocks' (and if I blow the group energy all to hell - I'll take full responsibility.)

Tonight's meeting was mostly about the new i-net mall store front they've seemingly decided to do. (I say seemingly because the decision was made at a meeting that I couldn't attend and I was caught up on that tonight) What really pisses me off is that they asked for my input on this damn thing and when I give it - I'm told about how neat and whoopty wonderful the thing will be. I tell them that the site will be one in the sea of millions and the response was that if they weren't meant to make money off of it then they wouldn't be doing it. I listened about how they get to use a whopping 30 keywords to direct traffic to their site.

These people don't have a clue.

I know how hard it is to get traffic to a site. I know how hard it is to promote anything like that. I remember racking my brain, trying to figure out how to get more, more, more exposure to the Tennessee Spirit Unity Alliance. Submissions to at least 50 search engines; posts on every board I could find, joining every web ring that would have me, calling people on the damn phone and I still didn't get the hits. I especially used way more than 30 keywords - I used everything I could think of, just so it would show up on the damn search engines. I think I had only six people show interest that didn't belong to the Tennessee Witches list. Don't tell me that you want my opinion and then tell me I don't know what the hell I'm talking about when I tell you what you don't want to hear. Don't tell me I'm speaking from fear when I'm speaking from experience. I almost - almost - told them that I wouldn't be at the next meeting or any meetings. Maybe that was just plain pissy but oh well.

It's not my deal anymore. Hope they enjoy the dream while it lasts.
