Other New Year's Festivities:
- Queen Elizabeth of England sang 'Auld Lang Syne' (!)
- Quite a few couples were married at the one of the pyramids in Mexico (didn't catch which one)
- Ireland celebrated with a concert of Afro - Celt (a fusion of african and celtic) music.
- Austria held waltzes (fitting.)
- The Goddess and the Moon (a local metaphysical shop) held an 'End of the World' psychic fair.
Y2K problems:
3 missiles were launched but were called 'non reportable'. They were somewhere in the Chechneya region. They were not reported due to an agreement between USA and Russia (yet it was mentioned on ABC this afternoon...go figure.).
WHAT AM I DOING FOR THE NEW YEAR?
Well, I have a bit of a little ritual - I try to be doing something at the stroke of midnight to signify how I want the year to go. This year, I plan to be painting so that the coming year may be fruitful and creative.
Otherwise, I've been flipping between ABC and PBS to see how the rest of the world is celebrating and making lists of all the languages I want to learn and places to visit. So far, the languages include:
- Austrian (is that a language?)
- Russian (thanks to Hunt for Red October as well as tonight)
- Gaelic
- Toltec
Happy New Year, y'all. May it be everything you wish it to be and more.
