Man ~ I can't believe it's 2002 already. I can remember writing the strange entries for 2001 as if they were only a few days ago. Actually, it was just yesterday that I got around to uploading the pathetic two entries for December and getting the calendar up.
I rang in the new year with movies ~ Final Destination, Final Fantasy: the spirits within and American Beauty...which, if you think about it, is pretty final as well. American Beauty is going on my (_insert Comic Guy voice here_) 'Best Movie Ever' list. All I did when it was over was sit there and shake my head. Maaaaaaaannnnn...and the questions...oh, the questions...hehehehehehe
One thing I've already decided that is needed for this year is a mitre box. It's been drilled into my head that it isn't a good idea to wait for my dad to get around to helping me. Back in August, he said that he would help me make some frames for my paintings...but first he needed a week to finish up putting in a new floor in his house and fixing the table for his router. It hasn't been done yet.
Longest week ever. I am so lame. The thinking behind all this was to get good frames made basically for free since the wood and equipment is already there. Yep, they're free, alright ~ free to lie right where they are.
Eh. Enough.
Another reason I need that mitre box is so that I can make stretchers ~ not for canvas but for watercolor paper. I found the instructions in a book from 1972. I'm dying to try it ~ I'll probably have to go buy a 1"x2" and some tacks this week so I can play with it. I'm going crazy!
I don't really feel the need this year to make any more resolutions ~ other than 'tell it like it is'. Everything's been set into motion already: my FAFSA came through; my application's been accepted at Vol State and registration is next Monday. I can't believe that I'm going back out into the world. You know, I still haven't told anyone in the family that I'm doing this. I've come close a few times but I managed to keep my mouth shut. This is mine ~ I don't give a damn about what they think this time around.
2001 was an interesting year. Here's to 2002 being bigger and better, with improved flavor and fewer calories.
