Quotes of the Day:
"I'm not gonna fire a $2 million missile at a $10 empty tent and hit a camel in the butt." ~ George W. Bush "I about laughed my pants." ~ my mom
Wow...time slipped away from me. I haven't even posted my entries for the Journal Circle list since I was last here. I've done a lot of writing in my paper journal, though.
I decided to try a technique that someone told me about: imagine a room with plenty of places to sit, such as a dining room or living room. Do whatever you want to the room to make it comfortable and inviting ~ place candles; food, pillows, whatever. When you're ready, invite all the different parts of yourself to come into the room. Let them take whatever form they wish to be. Don't try to force anything ~ just sit and watch for the moment. Take note of how everyone looks and acts. Go around the room for introductions. Be patient and see if anyone has anything else to say. When everyone is done or you feel ready to end the exercise, thank everyone in the room and let them leave.
It was interesting to see all the different forms that 'attended' ~ a police officer; a medicine woman, a princess (that one really took me by surprise ~ that was literally the last form I thought would be there!) and several others that I can't remember at the moment. I could tell that there were more that didn't come in ~ I could 'hear' many other parts of myself in another 'room', as if there was a big soiree' going on. During this exercise, there were a few parts that didn't like the other parts. The officer certainly didn't like the medicine woman (sounds familiar, doesn't it?) and there was one part that nobody liked ~ the diabolist.
(Diabolists were big during the reign of the Sun King in France (the 1700's). Many in the court indulged in a little 'devil worship' and the diabolists were the ceremonialists. It was evidently great fun to go against the church on Saturday and show up there on Sunday...hehehehe.)
Anyway...the part of me represented by the diabolist is, of course, the part(s) of me that for one reason or another haven't been accepted. You would think that I would want to talk to the medicine woman (She is indeed wise) but no ~ I found that the diabolist had the most interesting things to say. She talks about going within and mastery of the self as a path to the gods. One must learn to crawl and walk before service of any kind can be done ~ the gods are patient, they aren't going to give up on a person just because he/she is just beginning to learn about what they are and what they can do.
Funny how the most interesting stuff is usually found in the shadows, hmm?
