Still Reading: All Tomorrow's Parties, William Gibson. Only about 9 chapters in.
Re-Reading: Devil's Tower, Mark Sumner. The Old West. Magick. Interesting alternative universe reading.

Quote of the day: "She's the sort of woman who lives for others ~ you can always tell the others by their hunted expression."  ~ C.S. Lewis

Wow ~ has it really been 6 months since the towers fell? In some ways, it seems as if it were only a few days ago and in others, it seems a lifetime ago. Funny how that works.

Trip Report: The usual ~ Trip and his nose are mighty fine. Definitely near the top of the snog list.

HEAD IN THE STARS

I can tell that Spring is coming. Orion is getting lower on the horizon and setting earlier. I went out a few minutes ago (circa 9 p.m. or so) and it is maybe an hour or two from setting. It's chilly tonight so the stars are unusually clear since there's not much heat distortion in the atmosphere.

Sometimes I think that it would be great to be able to go out into space with stars as far as the eye can see ~ and farther. Yeah ~ it would be great. What's hard to comprehend is the fact that even though the sky is absolutely packed with stars, the majority of space is just that ~ space. Not counting our own sun, the nearest star (in the Alpha Centauri system) is four light years away. That's about 5,878,000,000,000 miles...times four.

Like I said, it's hard to comprehend that kind of distance. Then again, it's hard for me to comprehend the distance to Memphis half the time.

Side note: when did Emode start charging for tests? I guess I am an absolute cheapskate but it sucks to get a brief little snippest of your test results and then read, "What to know more? It's only $9.95/$14.95/whatever to get the complete report!"

Here's my reply to that: ppphhhhfffffttttt!!!!

I dared to disturb the universe today. I sent my story out to the Maidens and JournalCircle lists, to get some folks' opinions about it. I'm thinking about submitting it to Vol State's yearly lit magazine, along with my revised version of 'Roadkill' (which isn't finished yet or I'd have a link to it). We'll see what they have to say about it. Since it began as Sandman (or more specifically Death) fan fic, it seems to be a bit derivative...but I like it, nevertheless.

Oh yeah ~ I had to work out a trial schedule for Summer semester for financial aid yesterday. I don't know about it and will probably change it a bit. As it is, I'm on campus five days a week for four months. I will go absolutely insane, even if I am out of class by 1:05 at the latest. Perhaps I'll drop the english comp II class and keep the theater and alegbra classes. I don't know ~ I have until April 15 to figure it out, I suppose.

I'm also wondering if I have the nerve to take a class I've been wanting to try for years now ~ voice. I'm partially afraid because it would be my luck to discover that instead of having relatively good pitch, I'd so sharp that it would make cheddar melt in shame. I think the flip side of it is that I may actually be good at it and I'd be happy. That is almost more frightening than failing.

Well, I'm not feeling very verbose tonight and I have to go to school tomorrow to work on painting some pieces for the set of West Side Story. We'll see how it goes.
